Rev. Michael R. Sytsma, Ph.D., is passionate about marriage and helping couples grow in their marriage through workshops or therapy. Michael has been working with couples in a variety of capacities since 1987. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia; a Nationally Certified Counselor; and a Certified Sex Therapist. Michael has a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia in Child and Family Development/Marriage and Family Therapy. He also is an ordained minister with The Wesleyan Church.

He is the Founder of Building Intimate Marriages Inc., where he provides couples therapy and workshops. He is an adjunct professor at Asbury Theological Seminary, Reformed Theological Seminary, and Psychological Studies Institute. He also is a regular speaker at national conferences, including the American Association of Christian Counselors and the Association for Marriage and Family Ministries.

Michael also is co-founder and executive director for Sexual Wholeness Inc., a ministry that teaches pastors and therapists how to address sexual issues from a Biblical perspective.

Michael has been married to his bride, Karen, since 1985 and has two sons, Josiah and Caleb.
