I have conducted a "trail interview" with a search committee in a California church. I took the role of the prospective pastor. We met for two days and I preached for the Sunday morning service.
I held a follow-up meeting with the search committee and offered suggestions to make their process more effective and productive.
It was a helpful experience of everyone involved. I learned a great deal from the process and I feel that they did too.
By the way, not long after that they called a pastor and he has had an effective ministry with the church.
