If this is a valid assessment, my standing with Christ makes me smile. Ten years ago, without Christ, I would have had a very different, displeasing outcome as I was a political advocate. Thanks for this opportunity.

Dissed "Theocrat"  (Guest)
Is "thumpin' theocrat" supposed to be a joke? If so, it's not funny. At 38/42, that's where I ended up (albeit on the margins) and it hardly seems a respectful or dignified way to describe a worldview. What's the angle in choosing such a charged term? I also couldn't help but notice that the final page, following submission of the second part of the test, appears to be all about selling books. Woud I be acting like a "thumpin' theocrat" were I to mention something about "buyers and sellers" in the temple. Yeah, I thought so . . .

I'd love to use it as a discussion starter in a class on social justice for missionaries but like a previous rater, the second part froze up on me. Any suggestions? Like another rater, I find some of the continuums lacked face validity, but hey, this is clearly a popular format, not a formal psychodiagnostic instrument! It'll get the "juices pumping" to discover some underlying preconceived ideas!

I wasn't able to get to the second half of the quiz due to an error message and failure of the page to load. I would really like to see my score for the other axis...please help!

The church needs to stay as far away from politics as possible. Let the followers of the church do what the church asks of them, but the church should not influence the government or people on political matters.

I believe your survey was skewed toward a conservative prespective of religion and the government. Despite my "low" score, I think people of faith have the right to address moral and social issues. I adamently disapprove, however of the meshing together of politics and a particular idealogical viewpoint. Like it or not, our government was founded on the principles of the Enlightenment and rationalism, not on Christian theology. In fact, Masonic thought probably played a greater role in the development of our government than did Christianity. Though I consider myself a Christian, albeit of a liberal orientation, in the political arena I have no more rights than an atheist or someone of another faith tradition.

This was an interesting survey. If we truly want true freedom of religious expression / speech in this country, then we must allow all citizens of the US, regardless of religion, to feel free to display their religious monuments too, even though large displays of differing messages might create a crowded landscape of burearcratic silliness which, if taken together, could offend everyone!! If we want freedom of religious expression on public property for Christianity and Judiasm, we must allow the same for other Americans as well. I don't know how this could be controlled in a fair and equitable manner. The US has become a very diverse nation, but if Freedom of Speech / displays applies only to Christians, that would be unfair to others. It is complex, no doubt. Perhaps a solution would be to set aside space for modest displays of a specified size. Or a rotation plan whereas displays would be seen for a limited time, then new ones rotated in.

I was amazed that my results didn't even show up for the Part 2 phrase of the quiz. You are correct though...this quiz comes straight from the conservative right wing thinking, hardly a surprise! George M Melby, Pastor

I have the same question as Mr. Robinson. Where is part 2? I tried locating it, with no luck. Would like to finish the quiz. Thank you for any insite into the missing half!

Okay but, it really needs deeper explanations, like my rating does.

I will recommend this interactive Assessment to our students. We are representing a school from Phil in Africa, Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary. We are even thinking of a debate. this is very timely for our nations coming election. God richly bless you. Hope there will be more issues on chirstian and politics.

A provocative little 'net quiz - I encourage its refinement as suggested above - While you're at it - are you familiar with SpellCheck? underminded? Radial Reformers? Politicial?- does that rhyme with superficial? If so, maybe we can work it into "the Logical Song"...heh-heh.

My faith in God has brought me through many trials and I've crossed the bridges of troubled waters but God steped in me and worked through me, because of my Faith in God. The separation comes from those who are living in darkness and have no faith in God, but in man. FAITH sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receive the IMPOSSIBLE. We should not separate Faith, becuase God is the founder of our Government and Our Father is a God of Order. All God need is one mind, one body, and one soul and he will and still is doing MIRACLES right NOW. Jesus declares: Peace, I give you and Peace, I leave with YOU. Zechariah 4:6: Not by might, Nor by Power, but by my spirit, sayth the Lord of Host. GOD so loved the WHOLE WORLD (JOHN 3:16). Respectfully Submitted, Jesus Over You (JOY)! Love, Peace and JOY. Keep God alive in your SOUL. Peace.

Imperfect as a prescription of political position, but valuable as a teaching and introspection tool. It was interesting to see these individual choices laid out in a questionnaire format. Allows for some introspective analysis of my own church/politics boundaries which too often gets left to somebody else to explain. It was good exercise for our middle school SS class to review about half of the questions and get a feel for their positions, then go back to the Bible to find justification (if any) for their answers or discuss why we didn't like any of the choices. Take it for what its good at (introspection of issues) and don't get too hung up on the resulting quadrant "score". Glad I came across it.

For many of the questions, the response I would give was not an available option. I would agree with the assessment above that they required too much either/or choosing and the range of options was too fixed. I do not think the results from this quiz are really useful for anything.

You should have explained how "Seperation of Church and State" came into being, through liberal court system.

It peggged me pretty accurately. I asked my wife where on the chart she would put me and that matched the survey as well.

Where the quiz lacks most is in not adressing methodology. Yes the church should influence society, but are the issues something to be resolved strictly in the poltical realm? Changing the stucture of law might affect the actions of people, but not their hearts. However, when God changes hearts, actions follow suit.

I thought the test was interesting-but often felt my choice wasn't listed-I ended with a 36/41. On the topic of Separation of Church and State: if you do the research it's interesting to note that what Thomas Jefferson really said was that the governing body of the government should be separate from the governing body of the church. That is a much less limited interpretation than is used today. What's even more interesting is that the Jefferson's 'separation' statement was taken from what amounted to a political speech (it was actually written because writing reached a larger audience)!
